Can Renault localize Dongfeng?

When browsing the Internet yesterday, I saw a news item titled “Dongfeng Nissan will not produce Reynolds on behalf of OEMs.” The news stated that when Dongfeng Nissan released its corporate citizenship strategy report in Guangzhou some days ago, it was interviewed in the media about the Renault market in China. When the domestically produced project was blocked, Dongfeng Nissan’s OEM production may be sought. “Daniu Nissan Motor Co.'s General Manager Otani Toshiaki stated that Dongfeng Nissan has no plans to produce Reynolds.

The intuitive impression of this sentence is that Renault’s domestic plan will be postponed again.

The reason why I would be surprised is because two months ago, there were reports in the industry that Dongfeng Nissan plans to start production of the Renault compact sedan-Logan in 2011, and it is highly possible to set up a tripartite way to increase Renault’s replenishment with Dongfeng Nissan. Joint Venture: Dongfeng Nissan - Renault.

I can't help but wonder why Renault’s domestic plan has been turbulent, and this time it has been rejected by the top leader of the potential joint venture party.

It is not too late for Renault to come to China, but it definitely belongs to the "late set."

As early as November 6, 1993, Renault Automotive and China Sanjiang Aerospace Group signed a joint venture agreement to assemble and manufacture light commercial vehicle Tafik in Xiaogan City, Hubei Province. In December of the same year, Sanjiang Renault was established. On January 17, 1994, Renault Beijing Representative Office was established. In 1995, Sanjiang Renault Automobile Co., Ltd. began production. However, as the French insisted on using imported engines, Sanjiang Reynolds, which had lost its product competitiveness, was gradually in trouble. Afterwards, after a series of twists and turns with the Brilliance and the Hunan Torch Department, Renault eventually returned home empty-handed, leaving behind an empty shell at Xiaogan.

Since then, Renault has formed an alliance with Nissan, which in turn has formed a joint venture with Dongfeng to form Dongfeng Nissan. Seeing the days of Dongfeng Nissan flourish, Renault also moved to establish a joint venture in China. However, in 2006, the idea was rejected by the National Development and Reform Commission once again because the Sanjiang project did not end and the new project could not be opened.

Among them, the attitude of China, Dongfeng, is very delicate.

In fact, at the end of 2004, Renault had discussions with Dongfeng Motor to solve a series of problems including the location of domestic production and the disposal of assets of Sanjiang Renault. But for more than four years, Renault is almost standing still.

From the joint venture mentality, Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Honda have become increasingly strong. Dongfeng’s current joint venture with Renault is not as eager as it was.

Dongfeng Motor is currently the most important thing is to build its own brand of passenger cars. The funds have been mainly tilted towards independent research and development and expansion of independent brand production bases. Joint ventures with Renault require at least several tens of billions of dollars, which is a big investment for Dongfeng Motor or Renault, and there is a great risk. After all, can Renault succeed in opening the market in mainland China? Hard to say.

In addition, according to the author's understanding, Renault and Dongfeng had differences in the selection of the site. Dongfeng Zhongyi Wuhan and Renault like Guangzhou.

The Dongfeng Nissan, to whom Renault belongs, is equally subtle.

This is because Dongfeng Nissan had a good day. According to the latest data from the China Passenger Car Federation, from January to June this year, the total sales of Dongfeng Nissan Automobile reached 225,073 units, an increase of 41.32% year-on-year. Compared with the average annual growth rate of 19.35% of the major passenger car factories, Dongfeng Nissan required Nearly 22% higher.

On the other hand, Renault said that "the house leaked on a nightly rain," and on June 10, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued the "announcement on the decision on the import of Renault imported cars," and ordered the importers to stop importing the models with Renault brand hidden dangers. This includes four models of Laguna II, Scenic II, Megane II, and Megane Cabrio.

A "blocking order" once again pushed Renault's brand image to the bottom.

On the one hand is a high-spirited person, and one is a problem young person.

In this juncture, Dongfeng Nissan is naturally willing (at least for the time being) to make clear relations with Renault.

As for when Renault will be able to get out of the predicament, it is still a matter of government public relations and the public relations partnership between Chinese and foreign partners.

In this regard, Renault is actually very aware of himself.

According to the China Development Plan for the next three years released by Renault in March 2009, there are eight tasks to be performed, of which the “establishment of relations with the government” is listed separately. Renault hopes to achieve the goal of annual sales of 10,000 vehicles through the advancement of these eight tasks and complete its ultimate goal of localization.

Can Renault give birth by giving birth?

The daily limit is not afraid, and the fear is delisting.
