This year, the amount of afforestation will increase to 400,000 mu in the plains of Beijing to 25 million mu.

According to the person in charge of the (Beijing) Development and Reform Commission, this year the city plans to implement 400,000 mu of artificial afforestation and 760,000 mu of closed mountains and afforestation, among which plain afforestation will increase to 250,000 mu. At the same time, more than 40,000 acres of urban forest green space will be newly increased in the Central City and Xincheng areas.

This year will be the year of Beijing's afforestation efforts. The "Beijing-Tianjin Sandstorm Source Control Project" during the construction of mountainous ecosystems is expected to implement 125,000 mu of afforestation in barren hills and 700,000 mu of closing mountains and forests this year. Taihang Mountain Greening Project, this year it plans to afforest a total of 91,300,000 acres, of which 31,300 acres are for afforestation and 60,000 acres for afforestation. At the same time, to consolidate the special project of returning farmland to forests, it is planned to replant and rebuild 21,000 mu of land for returning farmland to forests. In a three-pronged approach, this year's mountainous ecosystem will implement 176,000 mu of afforestation in the mountainous areas and 760,000 mu of closed mountains and forests.

The plain afforestation task will continue to tap potential on the basis of the original plan of 200,000 mu and strive to complete 250,000 mu this year. The second greening and segregation area is the main part of this project. The five districts of Daxing, Tongzhou, Shunyi, Changping and Fangshan are the key areas, involving 14 districts and counties except Dongcheng and Xicheng.

By the end of this year, 11 new towns Binhe Forest Park will be completed, the new city green coverage rate will increase by 5 percentage points, and the proportion of urban forest in green areas will increase from the current 35% to 50%.

This year, the city will also accelerate the construction of large-scale urban forest green space such as the Southern Great Wilderness Leisure Forest Park and Nanhaizi Country Park. The new afforestation area will be nearly 10,000 mu. The pilot project promoted the construction of coastal waterfront forest belts in the center rivers and lakes, continued to use the green land for the construction of urban leisure forest parks, and made every effort to increase the green area of ​​the center city.
