The Xi'an-Shiyan line is located in the southeastern part of Shaanxi Province and northwest of Hubei Province. It is an important part of the medium- and long-term railway network planning and the longitudinal passage of the high-speed railway network in the 13th Five-Year Development Plan of the National Railway. The line starts from Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, and passes through the Qinling Mountains to the southeast. It passes through Shangluo and Shiyan City and connects with the Wuhan-Shiyan Railway under construction, forming another fast railway passenger passage from Xi'an to Wuhan.

Line and site

The line runs through the Weihe Basin and the Qinling Mountains, connecting the Guanzhong Plain and the Jianghan Plain, passing through Xiqiao District, Chang'an District, Lantian County, Shanglu District, Shangyang District, Shanyang County, Shiyan City, Yuxi District, Zhangye District, Zhangye City. The project is an electric traction high-speed railway (two-line), with 7 stations in total, Xi'an East, Lantian, Shangluoxi, Shanyang, Manchuanguan, Longxi and Shiyan North Stations. The total construction period is 54 months. It is planned to start in early 2019 and be put into trial operation in 2022. The total investment of the project is 58.2 billion yuan.

Construction process

In June 2016, the pre-feasibility review meeting of the Xi'an High-speed Rail project was held in Xi'an. The meeting in principle adopted the “Pre-feasibility Study Report of Xi'an-Shiyan Railway Project” submitted by China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Corporation. The construction of the Shiyan-Xi'an high-speed rail project was officially launched, and efforts were made to start construction before the end of the year.

At present, the construction of the Han-Ten high-speed railway, which is well known to the public, is in full swing. Projects such as tunnel excavation, bridge erection, and platform leveling are all carried out at the same time. The Hanshi High-speed Railway is part of the Wuxi High-speed Railway (Wuhan-Xi'an High-speed Railway). Another part of the project, the West Ten High-speed Railway (Shiyan to Xi'an High-speed Railway), has also started survey and design work in June 2016. Construction significance
