The industrial added value of the above-scale industries in Hunan Province increased by 13.0% year-on-year in May this year. The growth rate was 0.4% higher than that in April; the industrial added value above designated size increased by 15.3% from January to May, which was 0.6% lower than that in January-April.

Heavy industry production grew faster than light industry. In May, the value added of industrial heavy industries above designated size increased by 16.4% year-on-year, 10.3 percentage points faster than that of light industry, and the value-added of light industry increased by 6.1%. From January to May, the value added of heavy industry increased by 14.9% and the value added of light industry increased by 16.0%.

In May of the 39 large-scale industries in the province's above-scale industries, 90% of the large-scale industries produced increased production. Of the seven major categories, the growth rate of production in the two major categories of industries was higher than the average level in the province.
