Zhejiang Metrology Institute independently researches and develops measuring devices to serve the meteorological environment monitoring
[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] Recently, the technical staff of the Institute of Metrology and Optical Measurement Institute of the Zhejiang Academy of Metrology Sciences carried an independent research and development based on the laser cavity enhancement technology to measure the visibility of the device to the China Meteorological Administration MOR visibility laboratory for comparison test. At the same time, both parties also exchanged information on the related technologies and cooperation in the detection and calibration of visibility instruments.
Visibility is an important meteorological observation element. The visibility meter is widely used in the meteorology, transportation, and aviation sectors. There is no calibration specification for forward scattering visibility meters. For this reason, the research team of the Zhejiang Institute of Metrology Science has been conducting research since 2013. Based on the research of the calibration method for forward scatter visibility meter, based on the visibility measurement device based on laser cavity enhancement technology, a set of 2m*1m*1m small simulation cabins can be established for the calibration of forward scatter visibility meters. At the same time, the Shanghai Material Management Office of the China Meteorological Administration has just built a 20m*3.5m*3m visibility inspection laboratory. In order to verify each other's system performance, a comparison experiment was conducted jointly.
The test results show that the visibility measurement device of the Zhejiang Institute of Metrology has good repeatability, and the measurement results are in good agreement with the MOR laboratory's transmission visibility meter. This joint comparison test verifies the effectiveness of the visibility meter calibration method, will promote the standardization of meteorological environmental protection equipment, and ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
