The plant has an investment of 20 million Euros and is scheduled to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2017. The pre-production products are mainly zero-emission pure electric buses. It is estimated that more than 300 local employees will be employed. The bus can be assembled every year in the case of two shifts. About 400 units. The factory will be equipped with its own R&D center and battery testing center, and will also produce new energy products such as electric trucks, electric forklifts and even solar energy.
He Yipeng said: "The Hungarian factory is BYD's first electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Europe, but it will never be the last one. In fact, we are actively selecting the site for the next factory."
He also added: "This BYD factory is located in Hungary because it is located in central Europe and is known as the 'European heart'. The geographical location has obvious advantages. At the same time, Hungary has a long history in the production and manufacture of buses. Engineering skills are quite superb."
For BYD Europe's first factory to be located in Komarom, the city's mayor, Attila Molnar, believes that this will make a significant contribution to the local economy and employment.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economy of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, welcomed this. He pointed out that the Hungarian factory is another overseas factory of BYD after the United States and Brazil, and will be equipped with its own R&D center and battery testing center.
Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Duan Jielong was also invited to attend the conference. He said that BYD, as a new energy brand in China that combines automobile and new energy research and development technologies, is a leader in the industry, especially a pioneer in the field of pure electric buses. With the end of the diesel era, the sales of BYD buses in the European markets such as the UK, France and the Netherlands are also expected to increase.
Air quality and energy consumption have always been hot topics in global environmental protection. After entering the European market with zero emissions, BYD pure electric vehicles soon became the focus of attention. More and more BYD pure electric buses and taxis are entering the streets of Europe. The enthusiasm of local governments, citizens and transportation operators for pure electric technology has finally led BYD to set up factories in Europe to meet the growing needs of the local market.
