Dongfeng Cummins C-Series Engine Air Compressors Changed from Turbocharged to Natural Aspiration
I. Introduction to modified natural intake
The air compressor system installed on the Dongfeng Cummins C-Series engine has a variety of options depending on the engineering application conditions. Selecting naturally aspirated or supercharged intake air is one of them. Since the Dongfeng Cummins C series engine air compressor used the pressurized air intake system, a built-in pressure regulator valve was added to the air compressor, and a pressure-increasing protection valve (check valve) was added to the air outlet piping. The structure was more complex than the natural air intake. The reliability of localized parts cannot meet the requirements. Frequent pumping failures or failures of pumping are often encountered. The use of natural air intake can greatly simplify and reduce the structure and parts of the system and avoid the multiple failures caused by the pressurized intake structure. At present, the design and assembly of natural air intake have been carried out on the East Windmill.
Natural intake air compressors and supercharged intake air compressors have the following differences:
A: Unlike the upper cover, there is no built-in pressure regulator on the natural suction cover, and there is no feedback circuit connector.
B: The size and position of the air inlet and outlet of the upper cover of the air compressor are different.
C: Cooling water pipe changes.
D: Although there are many differences between the supercharged intake air compressor and the natural air intake structure, for the in-use vehicle, the supercharged air intake can be changed to naturally inhale without changing the air compressor.
II. Modification instructions
1. The pressurized air intake air compressor is still used, but the feedback connector on the supercharger cover is not connected (it does not need to be blocked or connected).
2. Adopt the feedback loop pipeline (φ5 thin tube) and replace the three-way valve (stop valve) 35Z15-06402 with the two-way joint 35Z41-06172. If there is no part, the feedback pipe connected to the air compressor can be cut off and welded to death. Do not leak gas.
3. The air outlet pipe of the compressor remains unchanged, and the original unloading valve does not change.
4. The air intake of the air compressor is taken from the air filter, and a φ19mm pipe joint is welded on the iron pipe after air filtration. The hose is then connected with the joint of the air compressor. The length of the hose is about 400mm. Be careful not to leak gas, the air compressor must be filtered by the air filter to get air.
5. The original pressurized air intake air-free bowl-shaped plug L339 is blocked. During the operation, Loctite sealant is applied around the bowl-shaped plug, and no leakage occurs.
