Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will develop dual-fuel low-speed marine diesel engines

Tokyo, Japan, July 5th: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. will begin to develop "UEC-LSGi" low-speed, dual-fuel, marine diesel engines, in addition to the use of traditional heavy oil, natural gas can also be used as fuel.
It is reported that this new engine will be added to the Mitsubishi two-stroke, low-speed marine diesel engine brand UEC engine series, which is expected to be introduced to the market in 2015 to help ship operators reduce economic and environmental burdens.
Mitsubishi will focus on developing new components necessary for dual fuels, including new fuel injection systems, gas fuel supply systems and control systems, and strive to complete pre-testing of individual cylinders in fiscal 2013 (before the end of March 2014).
Due to the development of production technology, non-traditional gas - shale gas will also be able to supply stably. Driven by these factors, more and more participants are entering the development of natural gas, low-speed, two-stroke marine diesel engines.
